2025-2026 Welcome Back Letter from RMDS Director, Eileen Kratzer

4 days ago, Rocky Mountain Deaf School
Hello RMDS Families, Welcome to the 2025–2026 school year! We are so excited to welcome you and your student back to school on Monday and Tuesday. Our staff has been working hard—attending meetings, engaging in professional development, setting up classrooms, and planning lessons—to make this year a great one. Our theme this year is REIMAGINE! Together, we’re thinking outside the box and reimagining what school can look like. To start, we have a brand-new website and will soon be introducing the RMDS app to make communication easier than ever. In the Elementary Department, students will participate in a new Exploratory Block—hands-on activities designed to support language development and build critical thinking skills. Our Growing Dome will also be in full swing, with students across all departments learning about horticulture. In the Secondary Department, students will have even more opportunities to engage and take ownership of their learning through a wider variety of electives and clubs. We’re also thrilled to welcome a wonderful group of new staff members who bring fresh ideas and experience from the Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf, Florida School for the Deaf and Blind, Gallaudet University, and the Rochester Institute of Technology. We hope to see you on Monday! Students will begin the day with orientation, including lunch, and in the afternoon, we invite families to join us for a community time. This will be a chance to connect with one another, meet your student’s new teachers, and get to know members of our Family Student Staff Organization and the RMDS School Board. Please see the attached flyers in your email for details specific to your student’s grade level. We’re looking forward to a meaningful, engaging, and inspiring year ahead! Warm regards, Eileen (Signature) REIMAGINE (Logo)
